While working on a deal in Mexico at GE, Tyler Muse realized his high-school Spanish was not going to cut it. His schedule was too busy for in-person classes and the e-learning programs he tried just weren’t working for him. So he responded to a Craigslist ad for Skype lessons posted by a woman in Guatemala.
As Tyler’s friendship with his coach Kathe Solares grew, he found that he had become fluent in Spanish and he could confidently express himself in groups of native speakers. He wondered why there wasn’t a scalable language learning solution that centered on the kind of one-on-one relationships he had with Kathe. And in 2012, Lingo Live was born.
We believe that the best work happens when everyone is empowered to share their ideas and is invested in listening to what everyone around them has to say. We think that tech companies, and all communities, benefit from a diversity of perspectives and life experiences. The way we see it, our world is becoming more interconnected all the time, and that’s a good thing. It’s a way forward. It means more growth, more innovation and more opportunities – for all of us.
You might call us commitment-philes. We are whole-heartedly committed to our learners and our coaches. We’re always trying to imagine how we might make their experience with us more useful and meaningful. We’re also committed to each other – to being there when someone needs a helping hand, and offering our sincere feedback to help each other stretch and grow. And when our work is done, we’re committed to having good, old-fashioned fun, whether it’s mountain-biking in Colorado or belting out karaoke in Midtown Manhattan.
“I love working at Lingo Live because it gives me the opportunity to interact with people from different countries.”
“I love being able to support coaches in their work - not only because they are fantastic, but also because the bigger picture is about making the world a more connected place!”
“Working with amazing people - both learners and coaches - from all over the world and seeing them grow and succeed is remarkably rewarding."
"I really love the interchange of language and culture that comes from connecting with people at Lingo Live."
